That morning Girod Street will be closed to traffic as the Old Mandeville Business Association hosts their Christmas Past Festival from 9 to 4. The festival will feature area artists, craftspeople and a variety of food vendors. It’s a great opportunity to Christmas shop and choose from many unique and locally made items. Santa will be on hand as well as a wide range of musical entertainers performing seasonal favorites. There will be two stages, one at Livingston and one at Jefferson Street. Children will enjoy their own designated area with hands-on take-home crafts and a post office accepting letters to Santa. For more information, or to participate as a vendor or additional entertainment, call Chairman Richard Boyd at 985-624-9604. Hope to see you there! |

Christmas is almost here, and Santa is on his way! The City of Mandeville will be celebrating its annual Winter on the Water festival on Saturday, December 12, at the Lakefront Gazebo from 4–7 p.m., sponsored by Cleco. I will turn on the lights at approximately 5:15 p.m., and Santa will be on hand to provide candy and speak with each and every child. Our special feature guest at the gazebo will be Benny Grunch and the Bunch. Other performers include Mandeville Elementary School, Our Lady of the Lake and Lynda Deniger, local entertainer and author. As soon as the sun sets, a spectacular boat parade will begin on the lake. Hot chocolate and cookies will be sold to benefit the Mary Payton Miracle Foundation. Also, from approximately 10–2 that Saturday, the City will provide horse and carriage rides along Lakeshore Drive free of charge. For more information, please call my assistant, Marlaine Peachey at my office at 985-626-3144.
